Timo Lozano begin his dance training at the early age of 6, and at 17 while performing at a tablao in his home town of San
Antonio,Texas he was discovered by the internationally known Spanish Dancer Jose Greco. Mr.Greco was so impressed with Timo's
performance, that he asked Timo to join his company that same night.
After touring the world as a soloist with the Jose Greco Spanish Dance Company for several years. Timo moved to Spain
where he then performed with some of the most famous dance companies in Spain such as MARIA ROSA, RAPHAEL DE CORDOBA, MARIA
BENITEZ and CIRO. Timo also danced along side some of the greatest flamenco dancers such as MATILDE CORAL, RAPHAEL EL NEGRO,
ANGELITA VARGAS, LA CHANA and many more. Besides dancing flamenco as well as classical Spanish dance, Timo is also recognized
as a highly acclaimed cajon player. Timo has played the cajon for SARA BARAS and EVA YERBABUENA in the documentary movie "FLAMENCO
WOMEN" directed by MIKE FIGGIS who also directed the movie LEAVING LAS VEGAS.
Timo has performed in some of the most important theatres in the world, such as. The Royal Festival Hall in London England,
Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow Russia, La Zarzuela in Madrid Spain, The Opera House in Tokyo, Japan, The Metropolitan Opera House
in New York City, and The John F. Kennedy Centre For The Performing Arts in Washington D.C.
In 1992 Timo began teaching at the world famous flamenco school of dance AMOR DE DIOS in Madrid, Spain. And it was there,
at Amor De Dios where Timo has taught dancers from all over the world and became recognized as a MAESTRO DE BULERIAS.
Timo also taught dancers from the companies of ANTONIO GADES, ANTONIO CANALES, RAPHAEL AGUILAR, MARIA ROSA and JUAQUIN
CORTEZ. Who became interested in learning with Timo and experiencing his very unique way of teaching bulerias which is by
playing the cajon.
Timo's bulerias classes became so popular that he was invited to give workshops in 13 countries (Switzerland, France,
Holland, Germany, Italy, United States, Canada, Mexico, Israel, Norway, Finland, Australia and throughout Spain).
Besides dancing, teaching and doing choreographies. Timo also wrote the screenplay for the highly acclaimed motion picture
ALMA GITANA, where he also acted and did all the choreography.
Timo created an instructional video on how to play the Cajon untitled EL CAJON Y SU BAILE.. Although Timo no longer teaches
at Amor De Dios, he is still offering Buleria and Cajon workshop world wide.
